Anna
Nicholson was born in Aibonito, Puerto Rico, February 19th, 1964.
From 1982 to 1988 she studies at the Puerto Rico University,
getting her bachelor degree at the Humanities Faculty, focusing
her studies on Painting and Engravement. In 1990, she makes her
first exposition called “Colografías" in
the Hermes Book & Art Gallery, in Condado. In 1992 she obtains
a scholarship from the Mexican Foreign Relations Secretary to make
her superior studies specialized in San Carlos Engravement Alternative
Techniques in the National Independent University of Mexico. Since
1988 she participates actively in national and international collective
expositions. In 1994 she moves to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where
she studies her post-degree in the Superior Fine Arts School "Ernesto
de la Cárcova", finishing in May, 1998 her Artistic
Engravement Training. In December 1999 she makes her second individual
exposition called "De casas y madres" in the Expositions
Room of the Vizcaya Bilbao Bank in the Old San Juan, Puerto Rico,
she exposes there 18 Paintings and 50 Engravements. In January,
2000 she returns to reside permanently in Puerto Rico, establishing
her home and workshop in Río Piedras. Her work is part of
important museums and collections in Puerto Rico as well as abroad.
Nowadays, since January, 2002 she works as a teacher in the Inter-American
University of Puerto Rico, enclosure of San Germán, Graduate
Studies Centre, Engravement Workshop. |
